ServicesWeb design
Custom web design for North County businesses that need to look credible and get found.
Carlsbad Web & AI designs and builds custom websites for small businesses across Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas, and San Diego. The result is a hand-built Next.js site that looks credible, works properly on a phone, and is structured to be found. Copywriting from scratch is not included. Builds start at $449 plus $29 monthly.

01 — Who this is for
Built for these people.
- Local service businesses and shops in Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas, and San Diego
- Owners on a template or page builder who have outgrown it
- New businesses launching with a logo, a phone number, and nothing else
- Anyone whose site does not look as good as the work does
02 — What it sounds like
If you have said one of these, you are in the right place.
“My site looks like it was made in 2014 and I am embarrassed to send the link.”
“People find us on Instagram, then land on something that does not match.”
“I paid for a website and I still cannot change a phone number myself.”
“We are invisible when somebody nearby searches for what we do.”
03 — What you end up with
The outcome.
You get up to five core pages, built to work on a phone and clear about what you do. Search engines can read the page content in the HTML.
Live, inspectable build. Measured business outcome pending client approval.
What this is not
- Not a template you fill in. Every layout is drawn for your business.
- Not a copywriting engagement. We edit and structure the words you supply.
- Not photography or video production.
- Not advertising. A good site is not the same thing as buying traffic.
04 — What you get
Everything that ships.
01
A custom design drawn for your business — no template, no page builder
02
A hand-built Next.js site, hosted on Vercel
03
Up to five core pages, laid out for how people actually read
04
A CMS you can update without calling us
05
Mobile, keyboard, and screen-reader testing before launch
06
Titles, descriptions, and schema written for every page
07
Analytics wired in so you can see what visitors do
05 — In practice
Built around the way each business works.
OMBAC’s San Diego club site and The Gilded Fisherman’s Florida shop serve different needs. Open each build to see the pages and the choices behind them.

OMBAC Rugby
OMBAC’s club history goes back to 1954. Supporters can find the next fixture. Parents can follow the youth pathway, and new players can send the join form. Volunteers update club details through shared data.

The Gilded Fisherman
Each piece has its own product page. The owner adds photos and copy through Shopify’s editor, using the custom theme we built for the shop.
Scope and platform vary by project. Each case study sets out what we built and what the owner can manage.
06 — How it runs
Four steps, in this order.
Step 01
Audit and brief
We look at what you have now, what your competitors show, and what a customer needs to see before calling. You get the findings in writing before anyone designs anything.
Step 02
Design
Layouts for the pages that matter, in your colors and your type. Two rounds of revisions, then we lock it and build.
Step 03
Build
Hand-coded in Next.js. Content goes into a CMS you can edit yourself, and we test on real phones and with a keyboard before anyone sees it.
Step 04
Launch and hand off
We point the domain, wire up analytics, and walk you through editing your own pages. You leave with the code, the content, and the keys.
07 — Scope and price
What it costs, and where it stops.
The Website plan covers up to five core pages, two rounds of design revisions, and a CMS, from $449 to build, then $29 a month for hosting, updates, and support. Add Ada for the $699 bundle at $59 monthly. More pages are quoted first.
Anything outside that gets quoted in writing before we start, not discovered halfway through. Every plan and every number is published.
08 — Questions
Before you ask.
- How long does a new website take?
- Two to four weeks from kickoff, once your content is in hand. Content is almost always what sets the pace — the build itself moves fast. We reply within two business days while it is running.
- Do I have to write all the copy?
- You supply the copy and images; we edit, structure, and lay them out. Writing a site from scratch is not part of the build, but we will tell you exactly what is missing and in what order to write it.
- Who owns the site when it is finished?
- You do. The code, the content, and the keys — domain, hosting, analytics, CMS. There is no proprietary platform to be locked into and no hosting markup buried in the monthly fee.
- What does the $29 a month actually cover?
- Hosting, security and framework updates, backups, and support for small changes. If you stop the subscription you keep the code and the content; you would just host it somewhere else.
09 — Start with the audit
