Concept demoConcept demo - neighborhood pub
Churchill's Pub & Grille
An unsolicited concept demo for a San Marcos pub: a 60-plus tap board with a detail view for every pour, an events calendar, a reservation flow that texts the owner with no backend, and an AI concierge.
This is an unsolicited concept demo. Churchill's Pub & Grille did not commission, review, or endorse it, and the storylines inside it are illustrative. It exists to show the standard of build, nothing else.

Our exact role
Designed and built the entire concept demo. This was self-directed work — the pub did not commission it, has not reviewed it, and is not a client.
The context
Churchill's Pub & Grille is a beer-forward pub in San Marcos with a large rotating tap list and a busy events calendar. Carlsbad Web & AI built this concept demo unprompted, as an exercise. It exists to show what a hospitality site looks like when the tap list and the calendar are treated as live content instead of a printed board.
Where it started
The information that decides where someone drinks tonight — what is pouring, which match is on which screen — usually lives in social posts and on a chalkboard. It expires daily, and a brochure-style website cannot carry it without someone hand-editing pages.
The constraint
A 60-plus tap board turns over constantly, and nobody working a pub shift is going to hand-edit sixty pages. The demo had to make a detail view per pour cheap to generate, and had to take a reservation with no database, no login, and no monthly booking-platform fee.
Decisions made
- 01Generated a detail view for every beer from a single tap-list data structure, so adding a pour is a data edit rather than a page build.
- 02Cut a vintage newsreel-style hero so the pub's age reads as an asset instead of another stock photo of a pint.
- 03Routed reservations to an SMS handoff straight to the owner's phone — no backend, no booking platform, no recurring cost.
- 04Grounded the AI concierge in the demo's own tap list, hours, and events, so it answers like a regular instead of guessing.
- 05Shipped the whole thing as one self-contained static page, so it can be handed to a prospect as a link with nothing to provision.
What we built
- A tap board of 60-plus pours with a tailored detail view for each one.
- An events calendar covering watch parties and recurring nights.
- A photo archive section built from publicly posted material, clearly framed as demo content.
- A reservation flow that composes an SMS to the owner — no database, no booking platform.
- An AI concierge answering from the demo's own content through a dedicated chat endpoint.
- A vintage newsreel hero treatment with a poster fallback.
More of the build

Stack
- Static HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript
- Self-hosted MP4 hero video
- SMS handoff via device link
- Next.js API route for the chat endpoint
- Vercel
Technical result
- One tap-list data structure drives 60-plus detail views — adding a beer is one entry, not one page.
- Reservations require no database, no account, and no booking subscription; the request lands as a text message.
- The concierge answers from the demo's own tap list, hours, and events rather than from open-ended model knowledge.
- Ships as a single self-contained static page plus assets.
Business result
Live, inspectable build. Measured business outcome pending client approval.
